Definately a cool idea whose time has come – The Bees Awards team announced yesterday that they will be holding the first ever competition for social media that is specifically targeted to marketing and communications peeps– The Bees Awards. The awards gala (Oct. 9) will take place here in our fair city of San Francisco (which is, of course, the perfect venue).
The competition is unique in that it seeks to honor marketing and communications professionals. The Bees Team is international in scope, consisting of ”a group of passionate professionals from San Francisco, New York, Detroit, Montreal and Paris.”
A call for entries is underway now, and the timeline for the awards is as follows:
- Deadline for entries is October 1, 2010
- Nominees will be announced October 21, 2010
- The awards gala will take place on November 9, 2010 in San Francisco

I met founder Bastien Beauchamp via Twitter (appropriately enough), and he asked me if I’d be willing to help out a bit to get the word out about the launch–which I am happy to do. I’ve been so slammed with my day job, that I haven’t had time to do that much, but I have a feeling this will quickly take on a life of its own!!
